We specialize in affordable, efficient, and attractive ADUs in accordance with city guidelines. ADUs can be stand-alone or attached to main house or garage and provide a place for extended family, work or art studio space, or rental income.

Santa Cruz Gardens (Santa Cruz County)

We recently completed (Spring 2016) this attached ~550 square foot ADU for a lovely couple living in Santa Cruz Gardens. They moved out of the main house, which we also remodeled, so that their daughter and her family would have an affordable place to live. The ADU with its vaulted ceilings, bi-fold doors which open out onto a large Trex deck and the sunny exposure makes the area seem spacious yet comfortable. The fully functioning kitchen has beautiful bamboo cabinetry and Quartzite countertops. The heating system is in-floor radiant and the windows were manufactured by Jeld-Wen.

Marnell Avenue (City of Santa Cruz)

Completed in October, 2014, this 900 square foot structure combines a single story accessory dwelling unit with a two car garage. This modern design with several low pitched roof lines utilized the site’s orientation to ensure maximum light. The Marnell ADU actually feels spacious and has plenty of storage, all contained within 450 square feet. The unit also includes a direct vent Rinnai wall heater, a Rinnai water heater on demand, custom kitchen and wall cabinets and LED lighting throughout.

Peyton Street (City of Santa Cruz)

Completed in 2010, this single story cottage includes a roomy bedroom, a spacious kitchen and an airy living room with vaulted ceilings. This design was one of the plan sets included in the original City of Santa Cruz’s ADU Program.

Ladera Drive (City of Santa Cruz)

Completed in 2008, this two story free-standing structure is quite spacious and includes a large living room, front deck, upper floor bedroom and roomy storage closet. This design was one of the plan sets included in the original City of Santa Cruz’s ADU Program.

Redwood Street (City of Santa Cruz)

Completed in 2004, this ADU is attached to the owner’s garage and shares a central wall. The cottage, though less than 450sf, feels roomy and has proven to be a great rental for either single persons or couples.

Fetherston Way, Felton (Santa Cruz Country)

Completed in June, 2015, at over 800 square feet, this ADU is the largest one MS Builders has built to date. The exquisite carpentry and craftsmanship is exhibited throughout the interior and exterior of the house. The exterior combines multiple roof pitches, a redwood deck, a covered entry porch, Sierra Pacific Windows and Doors, two types of siding including Core10 metal along with a standing seam metal roof. The inside feels light and spacious due to the vaulted ceilings and open floor plan. The custom cabinetry, unique lighting fixtures, tan oak flooring, precise tile work and custom metal and walnut stairwell are just some of the highlights of this house.
